Location: John Hunter Hospital
The Colorectal Unit at John Hunter Hospital comprises of 5 Surgeons, with 4 being on service at any one time. Dr Brian Draganic is the HoD, Dr Steve Smith (also Director of HSCRU), Dr Brendan McManus, Dr Peter Pockney (Senior Lecturer UoN) and Dr Louise Clarke make up the unit.
The Colorectal Service provides integrated care to Colorectal patients, is involved in emergency work for the Acute General Surgery Unit and undertakes a full range of complex Colorectal procedures, including both Open and Laparoscopic/ Endoscopic. The unit and team are also heavily involved in clinical and translational research.
Our successful candidate needs to be a competent Junior Surgeon with expertise across General Surgery. This is a leadership position for helping to train Registrars, so coordination, direction and delegation skills are essential to the success of the role, as are communication and technical skills.
